It's Time to Talk Up the Marathon!

We officially kicked off the QC Marathon PR season by holding a press conference yesterday at Stoney Creek Inn. Bill Palos of Us TOO! passed out Blue Ribbon pins for us to wear in honor of Prostate Cancer survivors and Prostate Cancer Education and Awareness. The ISLE of Capri is sponsoring the Walk for the Cause this year, and are offering a special Cancer Survivor/Awareness T-shirt to those who sign up for the ISLE MILE. The group has been dubbed "The Boys in Blue."

Joe outlined some of the highlights and changes to the event this year... one major item being the race course. He summed it up very eloquently in two words: "No Trains." East Moline will have a minimal role in the course compared to previous years, a very heartbreaking issue for Joe considering that it is his home town. However, it eliminates a mentally excruciating area known as "The Wall," and also adds some diversity to the elevation with a hill in the second mile and some more mileage in Davenport and Bettendorf along the river. A finalized map will be posted to the Web site soon.

A summary of the coverage (in no particular order) Sean Moeller's article :: I would link to the article on QConline but I left my user and password at home :) TV stations WQAD, WHBF, KWQC and KLJB were there and did a great job with spotlighting the QCM.

Next week: Running Wild kicks off their marathon training on Wed., May 24. Location: Duck Creek Pavilion #2, 6:00 p.m. Questions contact 563-323-7025 or runwildusa@aol.com.
