T-Shirt Design Competition Winner

John Kvapil was selected as the winner of the Quad Cities Marathon T-Shirt Design Competition from over 60 entries throughout the Quad Cities. Along with being a designer, Kvapil is an avid runner and ran the Quad Cities Marathon for the first time in 2006. “I had a fun time training for the race, and the day of the marathon was one of the best I ever had. It’s a fantastic event,” says Kvapil.

Kvapil will receive a $100 cash award and have his design printed on the official race T-shirts, posters and race form. He lives in Davenport and works in Preston, Iowa for Preston Schools as Technology Coordinator.

“The Marathon T-Shirt Design Committee had a difficult time selecting a winner from so many good entries,” says Race Director Joe Moreno. “I don’t know what the odds are of picking one that was done by a runner, but that’s exactly what happened.” The winning design will be unveiled at the Quad Cities Marathon kickoff press conference in April. The rest of the entries will be displayed at the Quad Cities Marathon Expo on Saturday, September 22.
